When is Prime Day and why?
Prime day is the 20th Birthday celebration of the e-commerce giant Amazon, offering to their Prime members “more deals than Black Friday”. The sales will be on Wednesday, 15 of July in their website in this page – with targeted offers rolling out every 10 minutes throughout the day.
Prime day special deals, will only be available for new and current Prime members. Being a Prime member also means that you get one-day delivery for free, a streaming-video service like Netflix to watch HD Movies and TV Series in your TV, Laptop, Tablet or mobile and other advantages.
Amazon doesn’t have any future plans to repeat Prime Day in the next years, but of course that depends if they get many new Prime customers or not. If they get many new subscribers, I don’t see why they won’t repeat it next years.
The way that Amazon’s became a leader in e-commerce was the good match of affordable deliveries, the best prices of the market and the huge inventory. But of course they need to keep the customers and get the others from the competition, that’s why they launch this Prime Day.
The rivals are already competing Amazon Prime. Walmart is piloting a $50 per year subscription with three-day delivery program called Shipping Pass. Jet.com is also planing to launch a membership retail website this year that can compete with Prime.
Prime Day starts on July 15 at 8 a.m. UK Time (0.00 a.m. Pacific Time, 3 a.m. Eastern Time). The event will have seven “Deals of the Day” and 1000’s of short-term “Lightning Deals”. These deals are only available for Prime members, but you can subscribe for 30 Days Free Trial following the banner.
Amazon is organizing other activities on its birthday, July 16, the 20 years of reading celebration, to honor Amazon’s origin as an online bookstore.
